My grandparents had an Adobe house constructed on the top of the hill. The view was breath taking. You could see from Sacramento to the Sierra Mountains.
My parents moved the family from update New York to San Jose in January of 1970. And for years the family made frequent trips up to the horse ranch. We had a lot of fun riding horses, swimming in the pool and playing down in the river.
Last month I took my family up to Northstar for a work event. On the way back we swung through Cool to see the old homestead. The seventeen acres have been broken up into three lots. My father has been in contact with the lady who bought the plot closest to the 38 acres. She showed us around her place.
I took a few pictures and just go around to uploading them.
This is where the old adobe house used to be. They sold a lot with the adobe house on it. The new owners tore it down and built something three or four times bigger:
My grandparents moved out of the area, but later came back. They built another house. This is the back of the second house:
We are standing close to the second house, looking 180 degrees the other way. You can see one of the old barns on the right side, behind the blue shed, which is new. In front of the barn and to the left is where all the sheds used to be.
This is the stock pond they built. It is to the left of the barn above.
And this is to the left of the stock pond. The 38 acres my parents and my grand parents bought in the 1970s is on behind the row of trees.
This house is a house they build on the other side of the adobe house.
It was fun to see the old stomping grounds. And March really is a great time to see the area. It was so green.
